FC - RCMA - 2023-2024
16 Message Mary Mark PRESIDENT RCMA MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE I would like to express my greatest appreciation to our Immediate Past President, Dr Sky Tan, as well as our advisor Mr Ang Wei Neng, for their support and advice during the pandemic. Many in the renovation industry were affected by it, with their livelihoods threatened by the sudden Covid restrictions. The suspension of renovation works, supply shortages and lack of manpower were huge blows, and now the industry is facing price hikes from 20 to 50 percent for renovation costs. Despite these harsh business obstacles, the foresight and wisdom displayed by Dr Sky and Mr Ang have helped our RCMA members and fellow peers to tide through these difficult times. With our trusted acquaintances in other associations, agencies and ministries such as MND, HDB, BCA, BCA Academy, CASE, SCCCI, NTUC and ESG, there is strong support to work on these challenging issues together. The association also took a proactive approach; we initiated dialogues with government entities to address these challenges with viable solutions. One of our proudest achievements is launching the RCMA Academy, which has received a positive response with its strong enrolment. This training institution not only caters to aspiring renovators, it aims to broaden the skills and knowledge of renovation practitioners of all levels. Learning is a lifelong journey, and constant upskilling will lay the groundwork for future generations of renovation practitioners to be at the forefront of their businesses. Having more certified renovation practitioners will certainly raise the level of professionalism and create more skilled talents in our field. The renovation industry is facing a pivotal turning point as we embrace the digital era. The pandemic has made it very clear that our businesses need digital transformation, and we need to adapt to the fast-paced demands of digitalisation to achieve a firm footing in this post-pandemic world. I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to our RCMA management committee and all our members for staying united and resilient, and for their tireless support in our cause to uplift the standards of renovation in Singapore. We will continue to work towards our goals in bringing more engagements for our members in the coming years. Last but not least, my most sincere thanks to everyone who has offered their resources, guidance and support to our association.
