87 DESIGN RIGHT ANGLE STUDIO PHOTOS STUDIO PERIPHERY Style Tweaks • An origami-inspired design concept was applied for the bespoke furniture in this maisonette. • A new handrail has been added for the staircase and one of the steps is integrated with the structure to link to a seating bench. • To invite more light and air into the central stairwell, the designers took to An executive maisonette in Balestier inserting larger window openings at the upper level. They also created artificial daylight using LED lighting to evoke a serene effect. • A limewashed finish has been employed for different accent walls, namely the living room which is modelled after a peaceful Japanese ryokan. It even features sliding screens and a minimalistic setup of furniture pieces. FLOOR PLAN EDITS • One kitchen wall has been removed to set off a more expansive ambience for the communal space. • The configuration for both bathrooms were tweaked to improve its functionality.
