105 NOT Industrial Overload Too much of a good thing can create a less than desirable effect, and it rings true for the hotly popular industrial style. Borrowing heavily from warehouse style accents such as cement screed surfaces, exposed piping and trunking, and other distressed and unfinished touches, the final look is usually brimming with character. However, when there is an overkill of these industrial style details, it can cause a stark and sterile look that strips away the warmth of home. STYLE DON’T: Too many unfinished surfaces will not do much for a space, and might instead make the whole space look cramped, dark and unappealing. COLOUR SCHEME: Instead of regulating to a grey or black colour scheme for an industrial look, try mixing it up with pops of colours to balance things out. NAIL THE LOOK: Plants can breathe life into a space and it can bring much vitality to offset the heavy textures of the industrial style. DESIGN BY VERSAFORM IMAGE COURTESY OF MELODY MAISON
