27 Message Lim Ah Bah 林亚峇 顾问 ADVISER RCMA MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE 自我们在40年前成立新加坡装修同业商 联会至今，我见证了我们的成员在装修业 中所取得的各种成就与进展，并为此深 感自豪。他们的运营方式也有了显着的改 善，从最初的一家小型公司扩展至拥有 陈列室的完善店面。此外，随着建屋发展 局于60年代成立之后，政府陆续推出了 一系列房屋协议和法规，促使我们极力 推荐那些受建屋局认证的承包商。 我们旨在维系与稳固政府机构、装修供 应商和屋主这三方之间的合作关系，并且 致力招募杰出的装修供应商成为我们的 会员。我们不但和会员们一起积极地与 建屋局、建设局和市区重建局等政府机 构进行对话，制定适当的装修方针，也为 屋主们提供透明、详细的装修预算案，以 及优质的装修工艺和服务。在我们多年的 辛勤经营下，这三方之间的合作关系已有 了显著的改善。 其次，我也深感欣慰能看到不少年轻一辈 加入装修业。目前领有准证的装修商约 2,300名，数量自去年开始呈指数增长。 这意味着有越来越多的年轻专业人士渴 望进入这个领域，而且其市场潜力巨大。 随着我们的蓬勃发展，我期待我们能迎 接新机遇，进一步宣扬我们的会员和行 业的声誉。 Since our inception 40 years ago, I am proud to witness the members of the Singapore Renovation Contractors and Materials Suppliers Association (RCMA) taking great strides in the renovation industry. There have been significant improvements in their operations where they have expanded from a tiny start-up to a full-fledged shop outfit with showrooms. And with the Housing and Development Board (HDB) established in the sixties, the introduction of housing protocol and regulations has also led us to endorse HDB registered contractors. Our main involvement details a three-pronged approach between government boards, renovation providers and homeowners. The Association’s role is to assemble an outstanding group of renovation providers as RCMA members. We engage various government boards like HDB, BCA and Urban Development Authority (URA) in dialogue sessions with our members to set proper guidelines. On the homeowners’ front, we educate them on the transparency of renovation budgets and offer assurance in quality workmanship and renovation services. Through our divine intervention over the years, the relations between the three parties have improved considerably. The renovation scene is no longer dominated by veterans as I have seen young blood joining this industry. In fact, we have more than 2,300 licensed contractors and there has been an exponential growth in the numbers since last year. It shows that more young professionals aspire to enter this line and also, the promising potential in the market. As we continue to thrive, I look forward to embrace new opportunities to further uphold the reputation of our members and the industry on an international scale.
